Rumor: Microsoft developing exclusive titles for Windows Phone to woo mobile gamers

Let?s face it ? in the mobile gaming world, there are only two platforms gamers flock to: iOS and Android. Microsoft knows this and is reportedly trying its best to produce some Windows Phone exclusive titles in order to get gamers to also embrace the Windows Phone platform as the premier gaming platform.

According to a WMPoweruser tipster, Microsoft already has some exclusive titles in development and plans to release one of them next month. Not only that, but Microsoft is also doing some back-door deals to obtain some apps of note from iOS onto Windows Phone 7. Seeing as there aren?t many iOS exclusive games, that is, besides Infinity Blade & Infinity Blade II, getting key iOS games on the WP7 platform shouldn?t be too difficult. Unless Microsoft is trying to get long-time partner Epic Games to deliver its Infinity Blade series to WP7, which both have had a very healthy relationship with Microsoft Xbox 360.

Seeing as Microsoft has surprisingly embraced the iOS platform by delivering some Windows Phone exclusive apps, such as the Xbox Live app and Kinectimals, hearing a rumor like this confuses me. On one hand, I can completely believe Microsoft is capable of doing something like this in the mobile gaming world as it?s already done this thing for the Xbox 360. On the other hand, if they?re working so hard on obtaining apps that are exclusive to the Windows Phone platform, why would they support a competing platform with some of its own exclusive apps?
